I was speaking with the RN who was giving me my Remicade infusion, and we started discussing Rem vs other biologics. She was saying that the docs in my office have found that they see the best results with Remicade as opposed to Humira or Cimzia. Apparently, those 2 are not administered weight-based, so a 90 pound patient will be receiving the same dose as a 300 pound patient. Any thoughts?
Also, the Remicade drug rep told her that they're working on an injectible Remicade... has anyone else heard about this?

I have an appt. next week for a Remi infusion. I will ask about this. At this time, I haven't heard of an injectable alternative.

Nope, never heard of that. The makers of remicade have developed a drug called Ustekimumab, which may be injectible but is a completely different drug than Remicade.

Kriss, my rheumatologist told me she's seen the best results on Remicade also, but in arthritis, not Crohn's.  But, you are correct that the dosage is the same for everyone on Humira and Cimzia, not weight-based.  I don't understand how the drugs work enough to know if this would cause a difference in response for people who weigh more.

Kriss - I definitely follow your logic. Yet another angle that drives home the guinea-pig nature of our treatments? I dunno. I guess I'm lucky in one respect, if weight/ratio is a factor in efficacy - I'm a shrimp, so this Cimzia should be working like MAGIC! Pah.
