Banana Bloat

Yes, I can't eat bananas, too much gas.

Have you tried eating very ripe bananas (no green on stem, and brown spots on skin)? They have the starch broken down in them, which might help you tolerate them.

Yeah...it's really weird because I used to eat a banana every single day no problem...and now they cause me lots of pain.  I tend not eat really really ripe bananas because I don't like the texture but maybe I should try that out and see if I can tolerate them...thanks for the suggestion.  I am just getting frustrated because in general I feel better as in I am not going to the bathroom umpteen times a day but I keep having really bad problems with pain and bloating that seems to be unexplained.  My doctor told me to try pamine and I did that today and it caused me even more pain.  Sigh. 

Cooking a fruit/vegetable often makes it more easily digested, so it makes sense that banana bread goes okay with you.

I fear I might have a mild banana allergy. My tongue feels tingly after eating one. I had a major reaction to cashew butter a month and a half ago, so I'm now freaked out by anything that makes my mouth feel even just a little odd.

I am waiting to hear back from my doctor. I left him a mesage about this and the fact that I am having random cramping pain. He told me to try pamine which made me much worse. I will let you know if he has any words of wisdom regarding banana bloat :).
