Hey everyone. I just started Humira on April 3rd. My doctors opinion was that I would do well on it. So far all it has done is made my tummy worse and the fissure that I had near my tail bone was healed and has now started to open up again. As well as I am so itchy on one part or another of my body. I have noticed that i have dry patchy scaley parts on my body, particularly my chest and arms. I have read that this drug can take up to 3 months to work. If its not working now will it ever start working? Im so frustrated because I was doing better with no meds than being on humira. Another thing is that I have herpes. I havent had an outbreak since like probably 10 months ago. My theory is that my over active immune system kept it at bay and now that I am on humira this is the biggest and most irritating break out yet. :( My energy is so low and I am so irritable. In my opinion I think I would probably would be better with out it. I dont have an appointment with my doctor until middle of June and I dont know If I can handle this anymore:(.

I think maybe you better put a call into your doctor. You should be feeling better, not worse.

I've been on humira since march 23rd...initially I thought it was helping as I was able to get off cipro and decrease my entocort...it's been a rough 7 weeks as my body adjusts to this med...the first few weeks I had severe joint/muscle pain all over to point of having problems walking...tested for lupus/arthritis negative...rheumy thought it was a reaction to the med...all that pain went away after 3 weeks...now I get the flu like symptoms a couple days after the shot and this past week I was debilitated as my pouchitis came back in full force so I'm back on cipro...hell, I even think my stricture is getting worse as I've had some constipation which is rare with a jpouch so back up on entocort I go...its been 7 weeks, I'm assuming my GI will want me to stay on it 5 more weeks...I sure hope it kicks in...if not its off to remicade I go....this disease is causing me much anxiety...I work 2 jobs and want to maintain them...thought getting a jpouch would cure my UC...guess it did, just didn't expect crohn's to rare its ugly head...I pray this doesn't force me into disability....If I were you Chronicallyill I would call your doc like nanners suggested, he needs to be aware of what is happening to you...I hope you feel better soon!

The immunosuppressing properties of the TNF agents can cause repressed viruses to activate. Both herpes and shingles outbreaks are known to occur in people on Humira, Remicade, Simponi, Enbrel. A recent study of RA patients on the anti-TNFs showed a very high occurance of shingles in people taking them.

If I would have known that I was going to have out breaks from my herpes on Humira I wouldnt have even started it. :( I see my doc tomorrow and Im going to tell him that I dont want to be on this drug anymore. I just noticed a spot of psoriasis on the back of my ankle. It itches like crazy and is annoying the h*ll out of me :(. As well as a problem with my eye and itchy patches of skin all over my body. Also I started breaking out. I have never had a problem with acne before. I havent noticed a change in my BM's and figure that immunosuppressants just arent for me. I really want to try LDN, but no doctors will prescribe it to me. My last doc appointment wasnt very promising. He said that this is pretty much my last option drug wise and that my last resort is surgery, either a colectomy or colostomy bag :(. I just dont feel that Im at that stage yet :( I know someone who has been on LDN for 14 months now and her quality of life has improved greatly. She has had one small flare that was controlled with an increase in dosage. She was going 15 to 20 times a day and now she goes maybe 3 times a day at the most. She doesnt have anymore pain either. I know lots of people are skeptical about LDN, but I am willing to try something that i have hope in, rather than having my body get chopped up.
