prednisolone dosage question?

Hi

Today is my first day in taking this steriod, now i have just gone blank in the brain lol but i was pretty sure on how to take them till now...

My doctor said to take 50mg tablets at one time (2 x 25mg) on full stomach for 2 weeks then

cut it down etc after that

My question is i cant remember if it is one dosage of 50mg a day which i think is right cause if i do this twice a day that would be 100mg yer....?

Something to adjust to so i always panic a little...

You should definately contact your doctor first to confirm your dosage. With that said, I'm sure he means a total of 50mg's a day, not 100. Let us know the outcome. Blessings, Julie

My brain came back it is 50mg's per day lol
i just panicked a little cause 1st time takinh CD medication i do that double check things just to confuse myself some more...

I am pretty sure it was 50 mg too, 100 is REALLY high. Be sure to take them as early in the day as possible to help avoid some of the insomnia problems they can cause. Good luck!

I just got prescribed 40 mg a day myself. I agree with taking at the beginning of the day!! Before I was on Soma (muscle relaxer) I had a hard time sleeping on pred and needed sleeping pills. good luck! Karen

Be clear on that dosage. Once when I was under extreme stress I only took half of what I was supposed to. Sent everyone into a panic because they had doubled my dosage and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any better. I looked at the size of the pills and assumed it was more than it was. I learned to read my labels even when I think I know what I'm doing. I've only gone up to 40mg so far. Good luck!

Thanks for that yer i couldnt sleep at all last night wide awake like an owl, just started taking it yesterday took it after i had lunch which was around 1230 - 1pm, also takeing salofalk so will take them early to.

When I was on that high a dose of Pred, I had SO MUCH trouble sleeping. I made sure to take it as soon as I woke up in the morning. I've also heard of people splitting the dose, ie. 25mg in the morning, 25mg in the afternoon. I preferred to take it all at once as early as possible. Good luck! Blessings, Julie

i am glad i am taking the medication early and it must really effect you cause i am now begining to feel tired at 8pm so i will stick to that routine.. must say my stools which i have had a few last night and only 2 this morning were very runny i was sure the doc said it would make it more solid but its early days see how i go i do find last night and currently my tummy little sore but nothing painful...
