Hey eveyone,
I finally after 10 weeks of IV therapy for pyoderma gangrenosum ulcer on calf have told the infectious disease dr bye-bye. I've been on steroids ranging from 500 mg a day to 60 mg that I'm at now. I'm working with a derm dr that is doing some steroid injections at the ulcer site and in just 2 days it already looks a little better. We've changed how I dress the wound going from gauze and paper tape to non stick dressing with the bands you get after bloodwork. I have been through hell this last 10 weeks from gaining 35 pounds , getting bi'lateral pulmonary emboli, high blood pressure, insomnia, extreme pain, and my pancreas having trouble controlling sugar. I've been on unneeded IV antibiotics, gone through IVIG therapy, Lasix which brought on low potassium, Diflucan for thrush, etc. I think the inf disease dr was in over her head, and I did as always and just followed orders. I finally grew a set of you know what and decided I had to fight for myself. IT FELT AMAZING. I encourage other people to trust your gut and learn that just because someone has a medical degree does not make them all knowing., I look forward to working with this new dr she seems great and my GI to hopefully get past this latest saga with Crohn's. I hope to be able to get the PICC line out in a couple of weeks and just trust in oral meds again.
wishing eveyone the best health possible,
kimmy
