Ct enterography-anyone?

I'm scheduled for a Ct Enterography tomorrow at 1:40 and was wondering if anyone here has had one.  I know I have to drink a lot of VoLumen, which is supposedly better than the typical barium you have to drink.  Any ideas on the taste?  I've been so nauseous lately and will hopefully be able to keep it down.   I will then see the colon/rectal surgeon on Friday at 3:30. 

I also got my colonoscopy results back yesterday--here are the results:

Impression:  Very tight stricturing at the ileocecal junction

Recommendations: We will obtain a CT enterography of the small bowel to determine the extent of the small bowel involvement and then a Colon and rectal surgery consult.  I do not believe this will be amenable to further treatment with aminosalicyclate and steroids, nor would the biologics or other immunosuppressive therapies be warranted.

I have had one. Pretty easy test really. Yes you do have to drink the contrast but it is no where near as bad as the barium, must better taste. Once you finish the contrast they insert a IV and take you into the CT room. They put contrast in the IV and take their pictures. I was there for about 1 1/2 hours max. Good luck and it sounds like your stricture is too tight for dialation or medication intervention. The same happened to me. Here's praying that your surgery brings you to a long long remission. Be sure that you get back onto your Asacol at least after the resection to keep the disease at bay.

I just had one in January, probably the easiest test for me. I couldn't eat for 8 hours prior and I had to stop drinking a couple of hours before the test. Nanners described it pretty well, the only thing I can add is ask for the contrast cold with a straw. It makes it easier to drink -- for me at least. The actual scan takes minutes, it's being there for the drinking and iv that take up time.

My teenage daughter just had one last week. She also said the taste was better than the other. As lamb61 said, it does not take long for the actual scan. It takes awhile to drink the liquid and get the IV set up. We were out of there fairly quickly. Your situation sounds similar to hers, except she has a pyloric stricture. The GI is trying to dilate to prevent surgery at this time. I wish you luck and pray you get relief soon.
