what does abdominal abscess feel like ?

I was just wondering, what are the symptoms?
I never had one thank god, but how would I know if I had one ?
How does it feel, does it hurt?

Hi Isergodur I had several abscesses mostly in the rectal area but let me tell you this is a new pain one you won't forget I had pain that bad I couldn't walk cause it felt like everything was going to fall out of my bottom I crawled from the couch to the bathroom no joke,but one of my good friends had absessess in the anal area in the vagina and a few popped out on her belly she was in severe pain and it lasted for months she was in ICU for about 3 months very sick women they didn't think she would make it but she proved everybody wrong she is as tough as nails and doing great now.The problem with abscesses are hard to heal they need to heal from the inside out which takes so much time when they are tied open with a sinoet (silk knot) so it can drain and heal form in to out it just takes so long,I hope that isn't what you have there nasty real nasty. I have just had three abdominal abscesses. A t first I didnt know what it was, I had a pain like a stitch in my lower right abdomen and my right leg wouldnt lift properly. I didnt even think the two things were related, but I was also feeling just generally ill, so went to the doctor and she said it could be a psoas abscess. Never heard of it , but the psoas muscle is one that goes from your spine dto the front of your leg ;and this abscess was pressing on it and stoping it working. gradually pain got worse and worse and a swelling appeared. the last one i had was extemely painful and basically like a gient boil - a big visible swelling so if you had that you would certainly know it! I was also unwell with high temperatures, night sweats, and feeling very miserable.

I hope you dont have this now and I hope you never get it. Did you have any symptoms which made you worry, if so what were they? By the way they say the cause of the abscesses is the bowel wall being breached so contents can leak out and your body tries to deal with this by forming an abscess round it.
