Good GI doctor in Michigan (I live near Ann Arbor)

I just can't seem to find a good Gastro doctor.  I started out at Henry Ford in Detroit but my doctor kept trying to put me on Remicade (couldn't do that because of my MS).  I called his office one day to get a refill only to find out he was no longer there (I was never notified).  So I started seeing someone else in his office and he was no help.  He only treated me if I had issues - was not trying to help prevent anything.  I got pregnant and went off my Imuran only to find out later I didn't need to go off Imuran.  I believe that is why I am having my issues now - I was not being treated for almost 2 years.  Now I go to University of Michigan but I don't feel my doctor fully understands my issues espcially because of having MS too. 

I think I was just so spoiled with an awesome Neurologist for my MS that I am looking for that kind of Gastro doctor.

Can your neurologist recommend someone? I went to U of M for a second opinion when I was really sick and wasn't at all happy... I was having severe diarrhea for over a month, and the doc (Zimmermann) only tested my stool for C. difficile, but put me through a second CT abdominal scan, when I just had one a couple of months before. It turned out I had salmonella. My local doc didn't think of testing for it at first either. It took me six weeks of misery before I was diagnosed for something that can be found with a simple stool test! I noticed that there are a lot of GI docs in Ann Arbor. You can check with Crohn's foundation. Maybe someone not directly working in the hospital, but in the community would be better. My son attends U of M. Go Blue! Hi Katie. I'm also from Michigan. I've heard really good things about Dr. Ann Silverman, a Henry Ford doctor. Her office is in Novi. I also know of Dr. Manny Krasman, a gastroenterologist at St. Joe's in Ann Arbor. I think he has two sons with Crohn's, so he has a professional and personal interest in treating CD. I hope you find an awesome GI.
