My GI is out of this world he is the absolute  cream!! Im so lucky  Bev x

I think my GI does the best he knows how to. I know I frustrate him (because he tells me). He can't believe I still have symtoms even with my medication and my blood tests. I guess on a scale of 1-10 I would rate him a 6 because I do think he tries and cares.

My GI is the greatest , He diagnosted me 15 years ago , and been learning with me as we go along. Always there when you need him, and his staff is great to. cmn

I don't have the greatest faith in my GI. At one of my appointments right before my surgery, he ended up going completely off-topic and discussing a salmon recipe! I had to work hard to get him to discuss the surgery with me (banging on my diary and saying "that's nice but what about me"). I find that if I don't walk in with a list of questions and force him to concentrate on me, he will not take the time for my concerns.

My GP, on the other hand, is fantastic!!! He takes the time to make me comfortable with any decisions we make. He is very up to date and caring. So I end up going to him with problems and keeping my GI out of it if possible.

When I was newly diagnosed I got frustrated with him, but I sat him down and aired my concerns, and he really LISTENED! Ever since then, (about 2 1/2 years ago) he has been wonderful. He takes my symptoms seriously, and is great at answering questions. I would be much more anxious if I didn't have him as my doc, that's for sure!

I would rate mine as about an 8. He is good, spends quality time answering questions etc. But I knock him down a few not because of him, but my insurance is slow in getting some of the newer tests available out there, tests he would like to have done on me. But I do like him alot.

I have had two, the first one was a great person but not the best of docs he was always super nice. but sometimes he did not hear what I was saying.
Now I have a new one and we are just starting to work together but so far he is amazing.

My GI is OK I'd give him 8 1/2 . I have one pain and he don't want to say what it could be. And at times he looks at me like I'm making it up.

I would give my GI about a 7. I have only seen him a handful of times & several of them have been for less than 5 minutes after waiting 3 weeks to get in to see him and sitting in his waiting room for 1-1.5 hours. He does alright with his knowledge of this DD.

My internal medicine doctor (he handles all of my care) is a 12. He is very knowledgeable about this disease and has gone out of his way to try and help develop the proper treatments for me. I can call his office and tell them I am having a problem and will usually be seen the same day. He told me that I am one of about 6-8 patients that can do that. (Not sure if that is good or bad) Another reason that he is so well versed in this disease is that his son suffers from it. He has had his son to specialists all over the country, including the Mayo Clinic.

My first doctor that diagnosed me was a weinie, he said you got Crohns , live life. That was it no medication or treatments.
My GI now is Great, his only negative is that he never heard of LDN and won't let me try it.

I have two GIs.  The one currently treating me I give about a 7 for attentiveness, a 10 for knowledge (that's why I'm seeing her) and a 6 for bedside manner.

My original GI I give a 10 for attentiveness an 8 for knowledge and a 10 for bedside manner.  See my dilemma.

I needed the knowledge more now but when things are all calm and wonderful I will go back to my original GI.

My G.I. gets rating of 2. He is nice and good looking. He is a student and has to consult with the head doctor. The head doctor gets a rating of 0. He has never seen me as a patient, but tells the student doctor what to do(which is nothing). I'm still waiting for the answer if I have go through surgery(been waiting since October). The hospital gets a -0 because the G.I. doctors only operates on Tuesdays which results leaving the clinic 2 hours after closing and having appointments 5 months since the last one.

My GI has Crohn's disease himself, so he understands.  He's good at what he does but my rheumy is my favorite dr. of all...she really seems to take the time to ask questions and see what is going on and what I think about where my treatment should go.

My current GI is alright.... I'd say a 7. He's basically an expert in the field, but he lacks some of the compassion and bedside manner needed to be a great doctor. I have to make sure and go in with a list of questions and make sure he answers them thoroughly. The problem is, he is WAY too busy. He is only in the office a couple days a week, the other days he's doing rounds at the hospital. So, needless to say, this makes it particularly difficult if I try to contact him. I may not hear from him at all! But I trust him, I know he's trying, he just has the type of personality that's led more the by the left brain. The doc I had before him was a navy doc, and he destroyed the bad reputation that most military doctors get. He was awesome! He gave me one-on-one care and made me feel that I was the only patient in the world. I was going through hospital stays, drains, and surgery, and he was there every step of the way. He even called me at home to check in with me! Who does that anymore?? Also, he extended my disability at that time even though it went against the grain. I miss him!

I'm so diasppointed with my current GI it's not even funny. He is impossible to see, one of only two covered by my health care network and very very old. Doctors seem to be the only profession where people want to work until they die...and we have to suffer for it. I was very ill with abscesses and fistulas and he insisted I try Remicade again (despite past allergic rxn) because he didn't "trust" Cimzia because it's newer. It took him 2 months to get me started on the Cimzia once he finally decided to let me have it because he put the order in but forgot to execute it.
Recently, he carried my FMLA paperwork around with him for weeks without filling it out and previous to that, he lost it. I think it's time for him to retire... I'd love it if they would get another GI for me to see. I'm not sure what to do.

I guess I'd give him a 3...with my cat getting a close 2.5.

10, hands down. Having the hospital I go to is one reason I am afraid to move. I really like the staff in my GI's office in particular...
They always listen to my concerns, do the necessary paperwork to get things done, and he even wrote my father a letter to try and explain the need for support.
I really feel so fortunate to have them...

My GI is not the nicest.  Last time I saw him he told me I gained too much weight while I was on prednisone (15 lbs) and asked me why I don't have a boyfriend at the age of 22.  I feel like I have a nagging grandma for a GI...

I had to change my GI's this past year because my old GI wasn't listening to me and not trying to treat ALL of my symptoms.  (ironically I had to have surgery in between changing docs.  You don't know how much I wanted to go into my old docs office and say "SEE I TOLD YOU THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME!!!) devil

I changed to a new GI and he is absolutely amazing! tongue He is very personalable and very knowledgable at the same time.  He is always willing to explain things (more than once if necessary) I am sooooo glad that I changed.

I really like my GI. He really listens to me, takes his time explaining things (including throwing statistics and all sort of info at me that I like to evaluate my decisions), he seems like he knows what he is doing and he is a nice guy. Plus, he is very easy to get in touch with - he returns all of my calls and responds to my emails. Two thumbs up!

I'll have to say that my GI doc-Dr. Ted Bayless is phenomenal and one of the top in the country, literally!!!! He has written text books on IBD and med students use his materials in their classrooms. He's also the head director of the IBD center at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. He also has over 50 years of experience. My first appointment with him lasted 2 hours-he wrote down my entire medical history. We talked for an hour and 45 minutes. I haven't gotten that kind of attention from any other doc. If you live in the Baltimore, DC, Delaware, southern PA, northern VA area, I highly recommended Dr. Bayless. I believe he is taking new patients...especially those needing a second opinion.
