I have had this, it is actually how I ended up being diagnosed with Crohn's... it is an intestinal spasm. I have a partially blocked intestine (ileum) and so the food ends up sitting there inflaming things and it causes the spasms as my intestine tries to get rid of it. I have been getting it on and off for a few months as they try to get the inflammation causing the blockage to subside.
I had a really bad one a few months ago, it is awful, worst pain in my life, even worse than giving birth to my almost 9 lb son breach with no drugs! Check to see if you have any fever, as I also had fever, vomitting and diarrhea that time, but it came about 6 hours after the pain started. I ignored the pain at first, and waited all night until the more severe symptoms started. I could have burst my intestine... I was lucky, mine was only partially blocked and the spasms took care of the blockage by clearing everything out, but you might want to get checked out if you get any of those symptoms with it, just in case. There is quite a bit they can do to assist, such as helping to clear what is causing any blockages, or giving smooth muscle relaxants or pain meds. They gave me steroids and pain meds, and put me on a low fiber diet until it clears up. The pain meds help make it more bearable, for sure.
