I had started Humira in Jan of this year and freaked myself out by reading too many horror stories and lymphoma cases, and terrible side effects. I am going in for more Humira and I am sticking with it because it is my only hope. This time around I want to fill my world with positives rather then negative thoughts. My biggest problem is thinking of the worst case scenario and not allowing negative thoughts to take over - I'm just a big worrier I guess. I will admit that this way of thinking wears me down immensily and I'm sure it is not good for my overall health. Of course I understand that everyone is different and cases vary per person but please share your success stories on Humira. I want to hear how its helped!!!!

It allowed me to go into my first and only remission in 15 years. It was wonderful and amazing and I honestly never felt better. The only side effect was the large red spot that lasted 24 hours and then went away. It was no big deal. I always try to be informed about medications, but I don't worry too much about the possible side effects. If I did, I'd never try anything at all. Oh, and I tried not taking anything at all and that seriously did not work out well. I simply got to the point that my Crohn's was so bad and I was so miserable that honestly I'd have tried just about anything (and I think I did!) to feel better. Humira was the first drug to work for me and I had 3 amazing symptom free years.

Hi! I was on Humira bi-weekly injections for 1 year and had very positive results, a colonoscopy done a year after I had been on the treatments showed that most of my numerous ulcers had healed and the intestinal inflammation was decreased significantly. I highly recommend you continue with the Humira treatment and think it's great that you are focusing on the positive effects rather than the potential negative side effects of the drug. When I started I was going for blood transfusions every 2-3 months and was on 20mg of prednisone. Now 5 months later I'm on 1 mg of prednisone and haven't needed a transfusion since March. So I have to say it's helped alot. No terrible side effects so far, maybe some fatigue and acne for some reason.

I have been taking weekly injections of Humira now for 7 months....prior to that I thought than when I felt better I could spread out the injections to every other week and got to the point of only injecting myself once a month for a total of over 2 years. When I did that, I came out of remission. The weekly injeections, along with a huge diet modification, have kept me out of the hospital. At first, my only side effect was a severe headache.....but come to think of it, I usually was walking around dehydrated so that may have been the actual cause. My hair has also thinned out.....but if I can wake up every day and feel this good comparatively.....I can handle the few minor side effects I have experienced. You see....I have no other choice. No other drug has worked for me except Remicaid and I developed an allergic reaction to that drug. Humira really scared me at first, but I found an excellent doctor to REALLY explain to me the actual chances of getting any of the scary side effects. It was my RA and not my GI....although I also love my current GI.
I also get a raised red spot after the injection that is sore for about a day. Hang in there.....it is worth it....at least it has been for me.
