Remicade- Does anyone notice that it stops being effective before the next treatment date?

Back in the hospital

This Remicade is really wierd

1/2 of my treatments are slowed because of minor reactions like hives or itchness but once the treatment is completed (I get 10mg per 10 KG) then the remicade keeps things in check.

Problem is that I get my treatment (with max dosage) once ever 2 months and it seems by week 6 the drug loses all effectiveness.

This time I started with tons of abdominal pain and effectively a partial blockage called Ilius.

Does anyone have the same experiences that Remicade doesnt get them from treatment to treatment?

I have been on Remicade since the new year.  I do notice it wearing off around 6 weeks or so too.  Im on about the same dosage per kilo.  My drs want to put me on another immuno-suppressor to really knock out the flaring.  Im worried about it and am really dragging my feet.  I hope this helps.

When I was on it and I started really noticing it wearing off sooner, they increased the frequency from every 8 weeks to every 6 weeks.  You may want to ask your GI about doing that.

I have been on it for almost 9 years. Yes, it seems to become less effective closer to the cade treatment time. I also have to take immuran to help it last longer. Your doc does need to know all your symptoms and time related to treatment. Hope you feel better soon.

Mine doesnt get worse. My bowel movements and pain are the same all the time. Although I still have bad days.

Talk to your dr, I was moved from 8 weeks to 7 weeks as my symptoms got bad starting at week 6 or so.

I was Remicade for 3 1/2 yrs and got my infusions every 4 weeks. It can be given this way and needs to be tailored to your needs. In additional I was on Imuran and still am for the matter. My gi says Imuran enhances the effect of Remidae.

Update

Made it out of the hospital on Thursday.

They gave me my 1000mg of Remicade on Wednesday night....usual minor reaction during transfusion (hives)

Feeling better already

Hope this Remicade lasts me the 6 weeks and I am pushing Doctors to follow your recommendations of transfusions once every 6 weeks.

They did tell me that my blood markers were off the charts, meaning lots of active disease as of the day after admission.....no @xit sherlooke was my response...lol

When I get my treatments I'm always premedicated with a dose of steriods and benadryl and this is suppose to help prevent any reaction that I might have. Do you premedicate? If not you might want to ask your dr about it, might help with the hives! Only drawback the benedryl makes me really sleepy, but I'm a cheap date anyways! haha!
