Colonoscopy findings

Hi all,

Just wondering is there anyone here that had visible inflamation in rectum and sigmoid colon on colonoscopy but biopsy results came back normal???

I think this site is just brill it answers so many questions.

A friend of mine has had 100% "inconclusive" findings, but after three ER visits and hospital stays they've decided it is Crohn's (from his CAT scans etc) and are treating him for it anyway. He's so far responding well to the medication, though if he gets another suspected obstruction they'll operate.

It's possible the biopsies they took just happened to be healthy bowel, which can (if I understand correctly) be very close to diseased bowel.

Its just so confusing when a colonoscopy done by surgeon (when symptom free) shows no signs of inflamation but biopsy results said I had mucosal changes etc showing mild to moderate resolving colitis. (Had been very ill and hospitalised on 2 previous occasion before colonoscopy),

GI does repeat colonoscopy (having mild symptoms) showing inflamation with pics to prove and changes my treatment while awaiting biopsy results which were normal.

GI wants me to continue with the new meds.
