I started a 40 mg taper a few weeks ago, and before recently, it had been a long time since I had been on it.  Man, it does have some wierd side effects, but it seems to really help my initial problems!  My self-esteem has sky rocketed as a result of all the weight gain!  Last week at the doc I weighed in at 108lbs, and I am 5' 7", so I had lost a few pounds, and that always depresses me. :(  But I weighed myself yesterday, and I am 116lbs!! lol  Eight pounds in 9 days, haha.  I only wish I could stay on Prednisone forever- then at least I would feel somewhat like a "normal" person.  Feeling great!

LOL, Prednisone is one of those friends who tells you you're smart and beautiful and hip, then down the road a ways hires a hit man to get rid of you.

Ah yes, Prednisone.  I tell it I love it every morning when I take it, then curse it at night when I cannot sleep because of the insomnia and night sweats. Haha.

yes I was loving it too - 40 mg - 10 lbs in 8 days! I can eat what I want - which is just crazy to me. THEN I started to taper to 30mg this week- that is when it all hits the fan and my love turns into hate. Right now I am wobbling around barely able to get through the day without excruciating joint pain (to mention just ONE of the many horrible side effects I get). Mainly in my knees but also pain in the wrists and my swollen feet and ankles. What causes this to happen with most prednisone users? I am so curious to know why it causes THIS much pain in my knees - is it extra fluid that is being built up? What drives me up the wall to, is when I mention it to my GI -all he responds is "really thats interesting" and notes it in his little book. Man, give me some advice, some insight, pain-killers, anything....

Everytime I go down the on the Pred the first couple of days after, I have the worst joint pain, then my body adjusts. Then on the next taper down I go thru the same thing. I definetly have a love/hate relationship with Pred too.

Prednisone is the drug we all love to hate. I always get terrible acne and insomnia from it, but it does work well at reducing any pain I'm having. Take the bad with the good, I guess.

yup love it too - at the high doses only though - it does crap all when i lower it - i'm beginging to wonder what is life like without steroids (been on them 2 yrs & counting)
