Good morning everyone... I read this forum alot due to my husband recently being diagnosed with Crohn's back in November 2008. I belong over in the Lupus forum. He has had two major bowel resections since Nov. and has now discovered he can't sweat anymore, even in 130 degrees (he works at an aluminum smelter). This has caused several trips to the E.R. for hydration. None of his doctors will listen to his concerns. A friend of ours has had multiple abdominal surgerys for various reasons and admitted that he too doesn't sweat anymore. He has to eat ice chips (sometimes with salt) to keep his core cool.
Have any of you who have had bowel resections discovered that you don't perspire anymore? The doctors won't listen to him, but I have"googled" the situation a little and have found some obscure references to the problem. I think patients and doctors just don't think to ask about this possible side effect from abdominal surgery.
Any response would be greatly appreciated...
