Hello,

I have a bit of a weird problem.  I had a big flare up around last christmas and was on steroids for about 5 months (about 40mg).  I was then taken off steroids and put on remicade (3 sessions) which has completely cured my chrohn's - touch wood! 

However the past couple of months I have had 5 (!) menstrual periods, one after another.  With about a week or a fews days inbetweeen.  And much heavier. 

Has anyone else had problems with their monthly cycle after they have been on remicade????   I cannot think what else it can be..

I'm not sure on the Remicade part as I've never been on it.
But either way you may want to talk to a doctor. If your having that many periods all close together with heavy blood loss, they may worry about that in general to your health, losing that much all at once isn't healthy on us. It could be stress, the meds, other medical issues that need addressed, so going to ask a doctor I think would be a good recommendation.

Pred has been known to do this to some women, also a bad enough flare alone can do strange things to your period, especially with enough weight-loss in a short amount of time...talk to your doc.

Are you taking any kind of birth control? I have always had irregular periods but I have been on a few different birth controls that really messed me up. The shot had me on my period for 3 months straight and Lo Ovral made huge clumps of lining fall out (like giving birth ew). I didn't have any problems with periods while I was on Pred and I've been on Remicade for a few months with no problems there either. You should def bring it up with your dr if you hadn't planned to. happened to me when i reached 75mgs of 6mp. do you know if you have an iron deficiency? could also be the culprit. i just take my birth control pills as i was having normal monthly periods.

Periods have never been normal, no matter what, and they usually cause me a flare. The doctor said my system is so messed up at any one time that it affects your monthly almost always. I take vitamins and birth control to help regulate it and it seems to have done the trick. I take Ocella 30/30 without a break and no more period flares!

I am always on time. Except for when I was on the predz I got my period every 2 weeks! The doc said this could be normal. (never happened before 7 other times)

I've never had a problem with remicade and periods, unless I did my infusion the day before or the same day I am due to start my period. In this case I can go up to 2 weeks being late.

Humira is the same, I did a shot the day before I was due, ended up being a week late. Try to schedule your infusions around your period (if possible)
