So I was getting home from a wedding earlier tonight and I decided to take a quick shower when I got home because I felt like me head was one fire, I was itching like a maniac. When I get out of the shower I brush my teeth and take my meds, when I finished taking the last tablet I loose the towel on my head, I bend over to grab it and all of a sudden the last sip of water comes bursting up through my nose I was like a ****ing fountain :S

I have been heaving serious trouble with my heartburn and 50 % of the time I feel like I am choking. I cant eat much and can't drink soft drinks like coca cola.
At the wedding I was drinking milk to cool my throat down, and of course I dont drink alcohol due to my many problems :P
Do you have some good advice for me so I can tolerate the next few days until I meet my doc?

And also I don't have lice that was not the reason for my itching hehe but I took a heartburn med earlier tonight that did not help one bit, but I have tried it before and felt no side affects but lately I have been having more troubles with intolerants for some things is that CD/UC related or just some random thing.

I'm not sure what you're wanting advice about, Isergodur. Do you need advice about your heartburn, or about some other symptoms?

I am in good spirits but all this chronic illness stuff is getting a little old for me hehe. I just want to wake up one morning and for this to be all gone. But i guess that is not going to happen.

Aaah. I think I understand. You want some tips on just how to survive until your next appointment?

One thing that helped me, when I was absolutely desperate to see my doctor, was to tick off every hour until my appointment. It didn't *matter* that the appointment was a couple of hundred hours away; ticking off each hour and congratulating myself for getting through each hour and day really helped.

I empathise with what you say - it would be so nice just to wake up and not have to deal with it anymore...

For heartburn, eat an apple. It is generally effective for that. For your throat, I have found that taking something called Redoxon helps. It is just a 1000mg dose of vitamin C that you dissolve in water and drink. It is a sodium carbonate/vitamin C blend that fizzes up and dissolves in a minute or two. I am not sure that the sodium is not part of the effect - that is the benefit may not all be due to the vitamin C. It is important that it is a non-acidic solution.

More - I notice that you were using milk to soothe your throat. Milk is a common problem food for many of us, so that may not be the best option. It can irritate your gut and that can in turn irritate your stomach. This is based on a recent study that found that 32% of the study had gastritis associated with their Crohn's. My guess is that this is a food intolerance triggered problem. In other words, you may be able to take care of your reflux by diet control - you just need to discover your food intolerances. You could try asking your GI, but commonly they don't do intolerance studies. They may be able to refer you to someone who does though.

PS - One reason that I think that this might work is that it worked for me to control GERDs before I was diagnosed with Crohn's and my Crohn's is so mild (because of my diet control?) that it was discovered almost by accident.

Thanks for this now there are only 14 hours until I meet my doc looking forward to it did not sleep at all last night and I have been getting by today by just eating small portions of easy food.

I dont have intolerance for milk they tested that one time but I do usually not drink that much of it, it just feels so good when you have heartburn it cool the thought down.

I have to try the apple I have one now thanks so much.

hI Isergodur,

I feel for you when it comes to the acid. When I had the canker sores/ ulcers in my mouth from CD coca cola was the best but with burning its my worst enemy. The tums fruity smooth chewables help a lot.I usually try to keep a full stomach with apple juice or bread of some sort. It helps the burning for a little while. But, the itchy scalp you were talking about interests me. I've been weird itchy/ hot spots too. My doc. can't figure it out. I wondered if you and your doc came to any conclusions?
