Anyone know if there is an oral medication for Proctitis? They sent me mesalamine enemas which helped a lot for a week or two but then I started to have breakthrough pain AND the applicator was scraping the inside opening of my fistula and causing extra inflammation (to the point that I could barely get the applicator in). I stopped on my own and the GI said that was a good idea but now I'm having all of the rectal pain/mucus/spasms again. I noticed the day before yesterday I had blood mixed in with the mucus so I am concerned about it getting worse.

Thanks :) I wasn't sure if Asacol was just for the colon or if it would stretch all the way down there. Also wasn't sure if it was ok to take Pentasa with Asacol. I'm going to talk to my GI about it later this week but I'd like to have options to put on the table in case I'm seeing one of the ones I don't like :P

I'm sorry to hear about your dx. I can't imagine how tough that must be, I'm struggling with just the little inflammation that I have. I hope that your doctors can get you into remission quickly :D
