Has Pentasa helped close up fistula?

Hi all, haven't been on a while have been in hossy but ill save that for another post. I have been on Pentasa since 10th aug 09 but in the last 9 days my Enterocutaneous fistula (fistula through tummy) hasn't drained at all the dressing is clean every day!!! i have researched pentasa and it doesn't say anything about helping with closing fistulas so a bit confused but happy its 1 thing less to worry about! could this just be a coincidence? any clues anyone? Thanks Bev x

Just sounds like the fistula is healing. Pentasa is a 'topical' medication designed to just coat the intestine, so I wouldn't think of it as a fistula healer.

Which means the healing is happening through your body, a very good sign!!!

When I first got Crohns in 1994 I got a perianal fistulae about 4 months after DX and I was given Flagyl to clear it up. It worked well that I haven't had another fistulae and didn't need surgical intervention. I hope you feel better soon

maybe it might help because of the location of the fistula...its in an area where Pentasa can target...where those like me with the fistula..in the rectal area..my Pentasa..can't address rectal inflammation...
