Can strictures occur in the large intestine? I'm just curious, because I was diagnosed with Crohn's colitis and have no small bowel involvement. Also, what are the symptoms of a stricture, or are there any?

I'm not sure about the large intestine. I know most strictures occur in the illeum if you have Crohn's. They can be very painful. My scrictures flare when I eat a lot of roughage or fried foods. I get what feels like labor pain in my belly button region.

When my stricture is giving me hell it's a very intense, very localized LR pain that comes in waves. I believe it's in the illeum, but I've never been told for sure (or have forgotten).

A stricture can occur even in your oesophagus, but I have had one and it was like someone dragging something through and down my body, it was a year of hell before I got diagnosed. Mine was in my ileum but I look back now and think how in heavens name did food go through that area no wonder I was in such pain.

I thought strictures could occur anywhere in your bowel - but I could be wrong.
When I have strictures the pain is like labour pain - but worse! Makes me nauseous and I sometimes vomit and can only tolerate a liquid diet.

Yes they definitely can occur in the colon as well. Many people on here have had resections in the colon.

My only previous symptom was occasionally vomitting with a bowel movement.

I had a stricture of the low colon and it made me sick when I had bowel movements when it was acting up. I would sweat, throw up, and yeah be generally ill all through my body.
