Yup, you and your daughter will have this problem probably for the rest of her life, unless she finds a good job with group coverage, thats the only way I could get insurance to cover me without having to pay and outragious price. Another option, depending on how much you and your husband make is to go on welfare, then you and your whole family would be covered under that, the only thing with that is that to qualify you litterally have to be the "typical welfare family" meaning not working hardly at all, here in PA to qualify for welfare you need to make less then $150 a MONTH. Its ridiculous, I know. Healthcare in the US is horrible, however I do not agree with the healthcare reform...even if I did not have insurance I still would not agree with it, its going to greatly reduce the quality of care people are currently getting. I'd personally rather pay out of pocket to get good care, then half-***ed care for free.
Also, I don't know where your from or if every hospital does this, but when I was hospitalized when I had no insurance I applied for a patient assistance program through the hospital...they covered my bill and covered everything Crohns related for a year.
