 well it was off to the dr this morning.. temp 104.3.  felt like crap that was run over by a lawnmower , then scraped off the wheels with a stick. temp went down to 100 then back up to 103 earlier. almost normal now after much tylenol, excedrin and prednisone.. they did blood cultures again. waste of time if ya ask me.  got a call into the Gastro dr. someting just aint right. something is being missed. now will say they have checked dang near everything to no avail over the last 3 years trying to figure this out.  i done, finito, cooked, stick a fork in me, my elevator is at the top with no where left to go. shocked

And those arent quitting words coming from the bravest CD survivor I know? Done, Finito - I dont think so!

Hey Randy,

I do understand how u are feeling like there is no where else to go, I also am going down that road right now but for different reasons but still related to this darn crohns/colitis. But I agree with sydneyjo that you will beat this cause u are strong as we all are, living with this chronic illness, we have to hang in there and hope there will be a cure one day. Wish I had the answers for u. Hope u feel better soon, take care

Randy, that is so unfair, from the disease that is so unfair. I really hope that this time they will finally find out the cause and the treatment for these darn fevers. Someone has to have experience in treating fevers of unknown causes. Best Wishes, Bets

This disease is never ending horrible..makes a person suffer...you have an extreme case Randy..but you are a tough cookie!

Maybe see if you can book an appointment with Dr. Gregory House???? Might be you're only shot at finding out what in the heck is going on...seriously though, I hope you don't have a "bug" or something...actually maybe it's better if you did and then they could treat it and put you out of this misery.

While Crohn's can cause fevers as a result of hidden fistulas (entirely from one cavity to another) which are hard to find, there are several syndromes that have similar symptoms. Here's a link to an abstract that mentions a few unusual causes of fevers that resemble Crohn's:

Maybe you could ask about those - just to keep your GI on his toes.

Randy...I don't know how you do it. My husband had fevers for a week straight (spike up then down up then down reaching 104.6 at one time). He lost patience around day two. You have been so strong through these....I know that you can beat this.

I keep thinking two things when i think of your fevers. One is the usual viral thought. The other is could a parasite be involved? With the coming and going of symptoms it just makes me wonder.

I hope they find a solution soon...in the meantime I'll sing a little Talking Heads song for you...Randy is burning down the house.

I am so sorry you are so hot.  mad    I wonder too about a persistent infection.  When tissue is damaged, it is hard for the body to totally clear infection.  And you have seen an infectious disease doc?  They tend to be better detectives.

Also, I am wondering if this is a general inflammatory response by the body to CD.  This link is mostly about joints, but it does attribute flu-like symptoms to inflammation from autoimmune disease.
