I was just wondering if there is anyone else here on weekly Humira injections? My son (19) who has been on weekly injections since April and gets them delivered once a month, has noticed that the first two injections seem to work fairly well, the third one is not as effective, and the fourth one is almost like not taking anything. Has anyone else had this experience. It seems to me that having the injections sitting in the fridge for more than two weeks has an effect on their potency. Just wondering if we are alone in this experience or are their others. Thanks in advance for your help and input.

I have not noticed this and I also get 4 a month...I for a time was unable to use them as well but had to cont to get them or my insurance at the time would have voided the prior auth on them so I have kept some longer than a month and have never noticed what your son seems to feel with his Humira.

I began weekly injections in August 2009 after every other week since 04/07.  It took a month for my symptoms to reduce.  I get a month's supply at a time.  I really haven't noticed any issues with the last two injections.  Usually some of my symptoms start to appear just before it's time for my next injection.

What temperature is your fridge at? It should be stored at 2 to 8 celcius I think. Make sure they aren't freezing or they will be useless.

Humira lost effectiveness for me after about 6 months with the arthritis, but my GI and rheumy both said that they cannot get it approved weekly, that they have tried with several different patients, several different insurance companies, and they can't do it.  I don't understand, since other people on here get it weekly or get double doses.  Anyway, I got tired of hurting all of the time and just switched back to Cimzia.

I know there are numbers of people on weekly doses and I think your docs have to at least give it a try. There are acually sample letters for physicians to use to have the dose of Humira increased and covered by insurance companies on the CCFA website. The docs have to stop taking "no" for an answer if it is in the patients health interest to have an increased dosage. Sorry I am so firm about this but I think docs need to be advocating for their patients!

I get it weekly and have not noticed any reduction in effectivness on the last 2 doses of the month.  My insurance put up a big fight and it took a couple weeks for the approval to go thru but eventually with notes from my doctor they approved it to be done.  I pay my usual $20.00 copay and they pay the other $3000.00 so I can understand why they were reluctant to cover it.
