I just want to know if anyone else who has crohn's has experianced prob. with tendenitis.  Every time I take Pentasa or Asacol it seems like it gets worse.  The doctors said that is not possible, but they also said they had never  heard that Pentasa can cause hair loss.  I had lots of hair lose while taking Pentasa and finally just took the side effects page to my drs until they changed my meds., they said your hair will grow back. ugggg

Sorry to hear about your symptoms. I had similar symptoms turns out pain was caused by Fibromyalgia.
Hair thining not sure what corrected it but it was while I was taking Asacol. I made sure I was getting proper nutrition lots of steamed vegetables and protein.
I had to stop taking Asacol and Pentasa they did not work anymore. Other things can cause hair thinning. It did
eventually correct itself. Stress can also cause your hair to thin. I think just being ill can cause your skin and hair problems.

Hang in there. Keep asking the Dr's questions and read all you can about the symptoms.

I still don't know if Crohn's has a connection to tendinitis but it was the collection of aches and pains that was my complaint to my doctor well before I ever was diagnosed. I was convinced that there was some underlying cause because it seemed abnormally difficult to get rid of the pains, even though they were not extreme. I believe there is some possible connection, but the doctors have never made one.

thanks for the info.;) I do believe the there is some type of connection between tendenitis and crohn's if not the disease of crohn's then the medications.  I'm going to look into that a little more.  My uncle is a pharmasist and he said that why Pentasa can cause hair loss is because of the loss of cell growth due to the meds.  Kinda like chemo meds.  Everyone reacts to medications differently as soon as I stop taking the drug within a week my hair stops falling out and within a wk of taking it, it starts to falling out again.  I do not have the same prob. with Asacol though.  Although, I've noticed that when I start taking the 5-ASA agents my tendenitis gets worse.  It does say it can cause arthritis, so why not tendenitis.  I am determined to find an answer because I refuse to live my life this way.  I know my Vit. D is low, and I do take vits for that.  I'm so tired all the time.  I hate, it I can deal with the ulcer pain, I've been really with that for yrs, but I cant deal with the tendenitis. I cant even walk unless I have a cast boot on.  I have two toddlers, who deserve a mom who can run & jump with them.

So finally my regular doc tells me it could very well be either the meds. causing my tendenitis or the meds. could be making my crohn's worse therein causing my tendenitis. Therefore, we are working on getting my GI Doc to chance my meds again. Some days I'm not even sure if taking these meds are worth it. THe side effects are horable, maybe to distract our pain somewhere else, lol

Pentasa and Asacol are weak meds, so it is possible they are not working. In that case, it sounds like, for you, they are definitely not worth the side effects.
