Going to Mexico, Advice?

Okay.... so I have crohn's colitis and have been on Remicade for about 6 months now.  Doing very well on it.  We are going to Mexico for our one year wedding anniversary in a few weeks and I am very excited.  But now I'm getting scared the closer it gets.  I just got my remicade infusion, the regular flu shot and the H1N1 shot.  Is there anything else I can do to prevent getting sick over there?  I really don't want to trigger a flare up.  We are staying in an all inclusive hotel that has their own water filtration system.  I just reviewed CDC's recommendations and I'm freakin out now.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanx in advance!

My husband and I were in Mexico 2 weeks before all the Swine Flu craziness began last year.  We stayed in an all inclusive resort as well that had the filtration system. All those all inclusives give bottled water, so I did not drink anything but bottled, even to brush my teeth. They say its fine for teeth brushing but i thought why chance it since they give you a surplus of water and you typically can get more at any of the bars. I took immodium with me just in case. I think just remember moderation b/c there will be a buffet for 7 days for every meal. So after 24 buffets your belly may feel awful.. just be conscious of what you eat and know your indulgence limits.. and lets not mention the drinks. not sure ifyou drink but OMG they never stop coming either. So between the drinks and the food it can = disaster.. know your limits. have a wonderful time. We were in the Mayan Riveria where will you be staying in Mexico? I had no trouble with my Crohns or getting sick.

We are going to Temptations in Cancun. We went to Jamaica for our wedding last year and stayed at an all inclusive. so I now how the buffet and free drinks never stop. When I came back I had the biggest flare, which led to the diagnosis of crohns. Not sure if it was the food or just coincidence. So that's why I'm a little fearful. Not scared enough to stop traveling though.

I drink Emergen-C or Airborne when I travel. I'm proud that your not too scared to travel. Have a great time!!

I travel to Mexico a few times every year. Do not drink the water, do not eat from street vendors, and wash your hands frequently and if that is not possible do bring some hand sanitizer. And lastly, I hope you have a wonderful time. Mexico is a great place to visit and everytime I go I have a blast.
