I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else before

 

Last week I was feeling a little under the weather and then all of a sudden each bowel movement has a little blood in it.. Well as the day went on I had MORE and MORE blood.

Well I ended up in the hospital and had to get 3 pints of blood to get back to normal

Well they did a Colonoscopy and a endoscopy and they found NOTHING. They have NO clue where all the blood was coming from.

I do have crohns but I have had in under control for over 20 years. I am on No medication and I was not having a crohns attach,’

Has anyone had this happen and if so what caused it

I've experienced everything you've described excluding being told that nothing is wrong. I think you should get a second opinion since something clearly IS wrong.

Did you have any other symptoms?

well i know something is wrong and i have a appoitment with my GI dr. They just didn't find anything yet. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen..
I am just happy that it stopped. It has happeded onece before in July but it wasn't that bad

I was bleeding for about 15 months. 2 days of Rowasa stopped it finally. I tried the Pentasa enema, but it was watery. Rowasa is thick.

Could it have been a Hemi bleeding? Was the blood bright red or dark? I would seek another doctor for advise.

I am thinking it might be a hemorrhoid too. If I sit on anything that is not padded, I bleed.

Well I don't think a hemorroid would cause so much blood loss that you required 3 pints of blood. I think you need to get thru some testing, because it obvious (at least to me) that your Crohns is not under control and something is going on in there. I once had a 20 year remission with no meds, and it ended abruptly with a emergency resection. So I recommend you getting in and see your GI soon and do get back on meds, this disease is chronic and incurable. Good luck and keep us posted.

By the way a c-scope can't see into the small intestine, so you could be having disease activity in that area that a scope can't see, I would ask for a pill cam test. JMHO

i forget to say that the bowel movents or blood was red in color like cranberry juce.. They also did a berium xray.. I am still waiting to see my dr.

I had the exact same episode about 2 months back. I had to have two bags of blood. They did a sigmoid colonoscopy and found nothing. I was in hospital for a week, and they did mri scan, still they found nothing. It was very disappointing not knowing whats wrong, but in the end it stopped. But it still worries me that it might happen again, especially because i dont know what caused it in the first place. hope you get better soon.

Yes, I've had that happen, it's how they discovered that I have crohn's. Only they found a bleeding ulcer in my TI area, and they were able to stop the bleeding. I remember feeling lousey for about a week before the massive bleeding hit too. My blood was also a bright red, it was coming out so fast it never had a chance to turn dark. I don't go by color anymore, I look at how much blood there is.

I wonder if your bleeding site was in your small intestine where the scopes couldn't see. And I agree that hemmies probably wouldn't bleed out that much, and probably would be quite easy to diagnose for them. I don't think many realize that we can really bleed out with Crohn's, and it's something to be aware of.
