So, as I have posted before I had a resection almost a year ago. But I have continued to have the same pain. Feels like the food is trying to "pass through" I recently had a colonoscopy and CT scan to see if the Crohns has come back. Good news, not yet!! But, my GI said that he thinks my pain is from nerve damage?? He is trying me on Doxephin, which is also used to treat Depression also. I kinda feel like, well maybe he is just trying me on this medicine to shut me up. But I am in hopes that maybe it will work. Has anyone been told this before? Nerve Damage? Has anyone been on this medicine before for bowel pain?

I have not been on that medication, so can't give any opinions. But....I did have some side pain after my resections that was briefly treated with Vioxx and Gabentin. This was before Vioxx was removed from the shelves. I don't think it was so much nerve pain, but more of a adhesion type pain. Sounds like your doc is going in the right direction here, as adhesions are very difficult to treat. Good luck!

Well even though you haven't taken the medicine, it is still nice to hear other types of treatment options. So maybe in the future, if this doesn't work I can tell my GI what I have heard in reguards to other's treatment. Thanks.

You know Elavil is a med that is usually used for depression, but they also use it as a nerve block. So the med you were prescribed could be one of those types of meds. Good luck!

Oh. thank you for telling me that. I have relief now and feel more comfortable with my treatment. I know that was a little gesture, but I was on Nortriptyline, which is like Elavil. And it wasn't working, so that is why he put me on Doxephin. So knowing what you told me, just makes me feel a little bit more at ease. Trusting a Doctor's decision isn't always easy.
