I go tommorrow to start my Humira, I really hope this works.

How do you know if your allergic or have a reaction? does it happen within 15 min, 1 Hour, few hours, a day or several days?

Well I got my first injection 12 days ago and the nurse said that usually people don't get a reaction to humira like allergy.
It takes more time to get into your system not like Remicade that goes straight threw the IV.
Now 12 days later I feel much better hopefully the Humira is working.

It did not hurt at all for me I just did as I was told took a deep breath and then shot the humira into my belly :)

How many will you get for the first time?

I got 4 and then I take 2 and then one every second week.

It would happen within an hour, but it's EXTREMELY rare. That's why they let you do it yourself at home, unlike Remicade where you need to be with a nurse.

I get 4 tommorrow then 15 days later 2 and then every other week I get 1.
Glad to hear it is extremely rare!

Good luck Wolfie! Hope Humira works for you.

And we did get to take my Dad out of the hospital on Christmas Eve. All 22 of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were there (stepmom refused to come) but that was the best present and therapy possible.

Here's hoping you get this Crohn's under control for the New Year. And that goes for everyone on this forum.

Hi, I have been on Humira since May of this year I am doing fine with the Humira. I have
no problems with it. I hope things go good with your Humira.

Good luck, Wolfie.  I'm facing the same thing.  Having a colonoscopy this morning to see if the Crohn's is active again after having a resection in June.  If it is, I will start Humira also.  Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

I just had my start up dose and the nurse had me give 2 in the gut and 2 in my thighs. Those little buggers sting especially in the thigh. I'm going to give them in my stomach from now on.
All went well so far.
They said that I will need blood work done every 6 months. I said are you sure I thought is was every couple weeks. What does everyone else get?

Well I went one week after the first shot and then I go every month.

When I was on remi I went every 4 months.

But I have a liver disease so that might be why they are monitoring me extra closely

I go for bloodworks every 4-6 weeks. You might want to ask them are they sure about it being 6 months.

Glad it went well for you Wolfie! I have my med's in the fridge at home, but Humira can't seem to find a nurse in my area to help me on the injections, so I wait. I don't feel comfortable watching a video or talking to them over the phone and then doing it myself. Yikes! Glad it's all good for you!

Sugar Smith. It was really easy, the nurse even asked me why I was here to get the injections when I knew so much. I just watched videos on you tube and Humira website.
I have the pens, so it was a piece of cake.
So far the only possible side effect I may have is that I've been feeling nauseous the past few hours. Not bad but it's there and I'm sure it will go away.

The shots are super easy, I never had anyone do it for me. And I'm a shot-a-phobic!

I'm glad they went well. I never had any side effects and hope you don't, either! Humira allowed me to live just about symptom free for 2 years and was amazing.

I've been on humira for a few months now.

Start up was the same, I had four to begin with (2 were done by the nurse, and i did the last 2 with the nurse watching and instructing me).
Then I gave myself two more a fortnight later, then one every fortnight. The only 'sideeffect' I have gotten is slight swelling around the injection area (my stomach). But that goes away pretty quickly.
