Modulen has not been available in the USA for a long time, I think at least two years because I was looking for it in 2008 back when I was diagnosed. People often use Peptamen instead and it comes in pediatric "Jr" varieties (which might taste better?)
I can tell you my own experience, which is that there is a pretty big difference between the "real" medical diets and Ensure. Ensure tastes very sweet compared to the Nestle products I have used--Vanilla Peptamen 1.5 (not Jr), Nutren 1.5, and Nutren and 2.0. The medical diets contain more fat and less carbohydrate (sugar) so the taste is bland. It might work if your daughter specifically does not like the sweet taste.
There is a big difference between the semi-elemental Peptamen and Nutren as well... Peptamen smells gross and the taste is kind of metallic. It took me a long time before I could drink a whole can. But, you can get used to pretty much anything and eventually I did not mind it any more. When you are on it exclusively you usually start to feel better so it is worth it. I don't know what elemental drinks taste like.
Only other advice is to avoid the 1.5 and 2.0 varieties at first if you daughter already does not tolerate the Ensure very well. Or if you do buy them, plan on diluting them initially. That is what I did. They are very thick and I found it kind of nauseating. But, eventually I could drink them warm, straight out of the can...you get used to it.
