B. Hominis, Alinia...

Anyone have any info on this parasite - Blastocystis Hominis.

My daughter tested positive for them and was treated with Alinia 2 wks ago. She is still not feeling better...the odd thing is 2 mths ago her doc put her back on prednisone (which she has only taken once before for a short time when she was 1st diagnosed. She felt great immediatly) but this time, nothing...it's as if she isn't taking it at all.

We see GI doc again Wednesday but I am not so optimistic he will address the possible impact of the B Hominis since he didn't seem to really know much about it to begin with...need help! Thanks from a desperate mom.

Seems there is some resistance to Flagyl but I don't see much out there about the Alinia, which is what they prescribed for her. We will know in another week or so when she is re-tested if it worked, or even helped. We did a yeast treatment with Nystatin last fall when a blood study showed a LOT of yeast.
Has everyone had a stool study??? This is the first for my daughter and I wonder why...? Seems an obvious thing to do for a digestive problem but no one mentioned it until we asked and he ordered one.

or you have lousy water. try bottled water for awhile. try a half teaspoon vinegar and I bet that will rid the critter.

yea, we do bottled water for the most part.
The vinegar is interesting. I will look into that too...and, no, stool sample was not done until now (2 yrs later).
