speaking to other sufferers?

Hi my names Dan im 18 and im from Newcastle, England. First time posting here as i really feel like i need to talk to other Crohns sufferers. Having a really hard time at the moment in life and i need someone to talk to, who understand what im going through and stuff, anyone but if you are around my age that would be even better. Last few days ive been breaking down into tears and thinking how my life should of went if i didnt have Crohns disease, just really could do with someone to talk to. Thanks

hey dan!! these guys helped me out alot on here im 20 and have been diagnosed for about a year. how long have you had crohns? i guess my best advice to thinking about how your life should have been is thinking about how our life is and what you can do to make it better. one thing about this disease with me anyway is i have no shame anymore once you have an accident in walmart it can only go up from there ha ha ha! i've learned to appreciate everyday im here and doing what i can to have fun while i feel good if you want to talk to me im here i hope you start to feel better :D

Dan I am 50 this year but emotionally I am about 8 so that rounds to about your age maybe? What you have said struck a note with me though as I am in the same boat. With this current flare I have been sitting on the pot in pain and crying. Part from pain but mostly from depression. Not always on the pot either when I choke back the tears. This is new to me.

So what do you want to talk about? I am in the USA.

Hi Dan,

My heart goes out to you, in fact to all of you living with Crohn's. My 'soon to be 17' year old son was recently diagnosed with Crohns so I am still on a steep learning curve here but everyone on this site has been so welcoming and supportive I am sure they will be able to give you invaluable advice and support.

Do not know how long you have been dignosed but would imagine that right at this moment you do not know quite which way to turn or where you go from here. My son wanted to be a Dr but consultant has (very nicely) suggested that it may be wiser for him to consider another profession which has left my son floundering and not quite knowing where his life is going to go from here

Incidently   I was up your neck of the woods in September when I 'deposited' my daughter at Uni-she loves Newcastle

Thank you very very much for being so understanding and helpful to everyone. Ill tell you a bit about myself. I was disagnosed with Crohns disease 7 year ago when i was 11. Was very ill when i was younger and been on alot of treatments but none seemed to keep me well for 2 minutes. Only treatment that did the job for me was Pred and the Elemental 028 diet for 8 weeks where i wasnt allowed to eat anything. Been on both treatments 3 times each. Had 2 surgeries, 2006 and 2008, both bowel ressections. Was doing well in 2008 untill my bowel ruptured suddenly and had to quit college and everything which was a big setback. Thankfully im well with the crohns side of things at the minute but i suffer with really bad anxiety, being on the toilet everytime i want to go out and be like a normal teenage lad is getting me a bit down. Current on 175mg of Azerthioprine and 40mg of fluoxotine (Anti-deppresants). Thanks again to everyone that replyed, made me feel alot better :) Dan
