advice for sore butt

Hey everyone.. been awhile.  i need some advice on a new problem. In November I was given Canasa supp. to help with the spasms I was having from my rectal prolapse.  I tried them but within days,  my butt and all the area around started to burn and itch. I stopped them and for awhile it got better. However..   the past few months, I am MISERABLE with the itchy feeling. I know from going to the BR, i have some small tears from all the wiping ( blood on the paper) so don't know if that is the issue.  Anyway.. any suggestions as to how to get the itching better.   I am trying balmax and hydrocortisone cream  but I want it to GO AWAY!

I have the same problem with the terrible itching and tried several different things to try and stop it. The one thing I have had the most success with is Benedryl cream. Walmart also has their version which is the same thing. It burns for a few seconds when you first put in on if you are all raw down there, but the itch was pretty much gone in about 5 min. Good luck!

Also try:

Witch hazel wipes which should reduce inflammation, but I assume you are doing this
sitz baths
After bathing, maybe dry bottom with a hair dryer on low heat - worked for my children's bottoms when they were young, I almost tried it myself

As for the suggested Bendryl cream, if this doesn't work, there are two other types of stronger hydrocortosone creams and suppostories in different strenghts your doc can prescribe - I have them all!

Also, if the pain or itching really gets bad maybe ask for an RX of lidocaine cream usually given for back pain, etc but there are those kind of creams and burn creams that can dull the actual pain ... not sure how they apply to bottom pain and if they prescribe them for this purpuse, but trying to think outside the 'proverbial underwear' here .....

I just worked on reducing several thrombosed protruding hemmies ... so I feel for you...

After the hot soak with salt and drying the area on low heat with the hair dryer, the application of corn starch really helped me. Not baby powder but real corn starch. At other points, I found aquaphor helpful. Good luck!!

oh yes, I have this all the time!! And yes I have tried so many things too! For me it seems to be a loosing battle most of the time. i sucks cause I dance around holding my butt and I look like an idiot!!! :o\
I use:
xylocaine 2% jelly - it numbs the pain and itch - its an anestitic
I use a siringe to inject it up there and it works really well.

I also use zinc oxide cream - you can find it down the baby isle in your local store.
I also have nitroglecren cream that I use.

And yes, salt baths do work well too. I haven't tried the blow dryer trick yet but I bet it would be a good one.
