Hi, I am new to the forum. 57 year old female diagnosed w/ fistulizing Crohn's after 2 years problems w/ bleeding, mouth sores, stomach problems. Initially they thought it was ulcerative colitis, and was prescribed cortisone and mesalamine enemas for 9 months. Tried oral mesalamine, also Lialda, which made it worse. After a couple trips to hospital w/WBC of 20,000 they ended up keeping me for a week in April on IVs w/no food or drink by mouth. Also developed iritis 3 weeks before last hospital stay, and have continuing problems with dry eyes and vision. Also joint pain, dry mouth. Tried 6Mp and Imuran, but liver couldn't take it, and am now on Remicade since August, which seems to be the first thing that is helping. Keeping my fingers crossed! I don't think I will ever feel the way I used to, but as long as I can stay active and out of the hospital, I can't ask for more!

Hi! Welcome! I haven't been posting long, but have been reading forever. Everyone here is so knowledgeable and supportive and have really helped me alot by answering questions and just knowing that you're not alone with this. Good luck!

Welcome to HW! Glad the remicade has kicked in and started helping!
I was on remicade for about
2 years, and only switched to humira because my GI is a while away and she thought it would be less stressful for me to do my own injections instead of coming to her office for infusions. (I live in Atlanta, GA and sometimes the hour drive turned into 3 hours coming home because of traffic!)
Hope things continue well with you on remicade!
