Tomorrow it will be one year since I started Humira (well, 52 weeks anyway). When I started it I was getting almost monthly blood transfusions from bleeding (my hemoglobin kept dropping to 8), lots of bloating and gas and I was about
129/130 lbs.
Today my HGB is 14, I've felt great for the past 8 months and I've even gained 10 pounds (though I'd like to gain much more). I'm working 40-50 hours a week as an accontant, caring for a wonderful 8 month old daughter and even getting some exercise in. Last year I couldn't even curl I was so exhausted and this year I haven't missed a game.
This was my last option before surgery, so I'm glad it worked, although I know I could need surgery at any time - especially since these TNF's have the propensity to just quit working.
Thanks to everyone here who helped me with the decision; and for the support over the past 2 years or so.
Thought maybe this post would be helpful since people always seem to post with questions about outcomes with TNF's.
