nail problems beau's lines

Apparently they are caused by malnutrition and disease. Guess that's why we have them.

chronielass, beau's lines affect the entire nail, not the ends, so biting wouldn't stop them.

I have them on my thumbs and other fingers. Not my pinkies. I take vitamins, and I had all my blood work done for some essential vitamins. I can't see it being malnutrition so it must be the crohns.

A dermatologist once told me the lines form when our nails stop growing briefly. Our bodies use that little bit of energy to focus more on the constant healing of crohns.

Is anyone in remission and still have the beau's lines?

Yes Roni. I've got an enlarged heart.

I also have a problem with my heart. Tachycardia, and have had cardiomyopathy but that's better now.

Randy, I have slightly clubbed fingernails too. My nails are hideous, especially my thumbs! And the skin around them is constantly peeling cracking and bleeding.

Randy, how did you know I also have COPD?

Illness associated with a high fever, caused by pneumonia, scarlet fever, mumps or measles
Malnutrition, vitamin def as: zink, iron

I have deep ridges on both my Big Toenails - One nail only has about 2 that constantley grow out and then come back the other nail has about 3 that keep growing out and more apear, Have had this for about 3 - 4 years . Have never had a day off work sick in over 10 years so I can not see that I am ill in any way . Complete mistery :-(

Anyone else here have beau's lines? It's the horizontal (side to side) deep ridges or dents in the nails.

I've had this problem for years and it seems to be getting worse.
