White blood cell count elevated....not sure what this means?

Hi everyone, Have any of you had this issue? My GI said this, "your blood work looks ok...please make sure you repeat in a mo because your white blood cells are elevated"...WHAT???? I was a little baffled by the voicemail. I have asked him what that could mean in a return call, but haven't heard back. I know my drugs have a side effect of lukemia....should I be worried and stop my drugs? Or could it just be that my flare has lasted so long (since Nov) that it is catching up with me? I know I have been so tired and not able to work a full week(I only work part time). Thanks for listening

Is your CD active? Whenever my CD is active i have elevated white blood count, i am on Imuran which helps control the fluctuations/keep my disease in remission.

My crohns is active at the moment and my white blood cell count is up.Caused by your body trying to fight infection, I think it is.

My crohn's has been out of control for over 2 years and my WBC is through the roof. It elevates when your body is fighting off something usually a sign you have an infection (in crohn's your immune system isn't working properly its in overdrive thats why they try to suppress the immune system) so don't stop your meds they are trying to lower that count
