After seven months of suffering with a Crohn's flare, I decided to try Humira. And yesterday, I had my first dose of four shots. Keep in mind, in have a low tolerance for pain; I sometimes pass out when I poop ... and I usually pass out when I hit my funny bone. So, needless to say, I was a little worried about
taking four shots. But, I gotta tell you, it wasn't that bad!
I took two shots in the belly and two in the thigh ... and while we counted to ten, all I felt was a slight burning or stinging sensation ... then when the we pulled the pen away, it was okay. I even gave myself two of the four shots!
The only thing I noticed afterwards was a slight headache. But, I chalked that up to being so nervous and worked up about the whole thing. It felt more like a relief headache ... I could let my guard down and relax ... that's when I got the little headache. And I was tired the rest of the afternoon and slept quite a bit. But I've been sleeping a LOT for the last seven months ... so that really didn't bother me.
I had been waffleing on doing Humira for several months ... had I known the first dose was going to be this easy, I would have done it when it was first suggested to me. Now ... I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it works and I have none of the horrible side-effects!!
