Going into hospital, wish me luck

I saw my GI today.  By the time he got to the room I was sweating, nauseated and shaky, hurting and feeling terrible.  He is putting me in the hospital for 4 days of IV steroids to try to clear up the inflammation causing my stricture.  He says it is part inflammation and part scar tissue but not sure how much of each there is.  If that doen't work at the end of 4 days I am having my resection done.  I am going in the morning.

Oh, I'm so glad you're home without surgery, and doing better. Yeah, the high doses of steroids certainly cause acne, and a whole host of other problems, but it's better than surgery. Both inflammation, not absorbing food well, and staying in bed not doing a lot can make you pretty weak. Don't push it though, just take it slow, it'll get better as you slowly get back on your feet again, and absorbing food better, and walking, etc. Eat foods that you feel you can digest and absorb (perhaps have some ensure to give you extra calories), and also as you feel better, add some vitamin D and calcium supplementation to help slow down the bone loss with the steroids.

I hope you can stop this flare-up, and wean off the steroids, and get back to your normal self real soon.
