Hi everyone!! Wanted to share my good news with you! After many tests and months of runaround I had my surgery on the 16th of Feb. I was in the hospital for 2weeks. Had to have a blood transfusion, and don't remember much of the first week. Had a fever they couldn't explain. Called in an infection control doc. Lot's of things happened some of which I'm just starting to remember!!
I did not know going in if I would wake up with another colostomy or if they could put me back together. When I woke up I remember feeling my stomach! It was gone! !!!! It's very strange now.I had that thing for 7 very long years. I catch myself feeling to see if it's full of air!
I have since lost 36lbs. (partially due to the fact I could not eat for several weeks after surgery. everything tasted soooo bad!)
Surgeon said there was no sign of cd anywhere in my colon, with the exception of the ulcers they cut out going into the stoma.I remember him saying my colon looked beautiful! ( not sure what a beautiful colon looks like but given my past history it must be good!)
I am starting back to work next week. Been off since Thanksgiving!
and best of all I am "pooping like a big girl" again!( my co workers think they are funny!
Take care ,, Cleo
