Does anybody on here with Crohn's have constipation?

I used to have awful constipation. I had to eat metamucil wafers, take tons of magnesium (minimum of 1000 mg), drink prune juice, etc. It only helped a little. Once I started eating SCD, the constipation began to ease, and I was rid of it by 4 months or so into the diet.

I use Lax-a-day for constipation, it helps a lot.

Sounds like my son. The disease manifests itself this way in him. The only time he has come close to having diahorrea is when he was on the entereal nutrition.

Yes.  I call it my "rabbit turd" days.  I hate it!  The SCD also helped clear up my constipation.  I had a few months, before I went on the diet, where I was pooping every 3 days on schedule.  :)  Now, 4 months into SCD, I poop pretty much every day, but it will tend towards constipation, or formed, but is hardly ever anything looser than that!

I have had this darn disease for nearly 35 years and always been more prone to constipation. I use stool softners daily in order to help keep things softer and easier to pass. If I miss them one day, I will be in a world of hurt the next day. The stool softners allow me to go daily. Hugs!

Constipation and the pain that comes with it, are the only ways I know that I am in a flare. But it is definitely not the norm for me. My doctor said that having too much iron in your diet (through vitamins or food) can cause constipation. Also, if you take too many NSAID pain relievers you can be prone to constipation.

when I first had cd I would be terribly c, then I would have really bad d. now 40 years later 9ft of small bowel removed, i am prone to constipation due to narrowing of my resected area, or because of inflammation in the resected area as well, so i really try to stay as regular as possible, evan if it means going 2-4 times a day, but I do have dumping syndrome.

Well I do not have too much iron in my diet as I do not tolerate it or do I even get close to NSAIDS and I still have constipation. Some of us with the stricturing type of Crohns tend to lean more towards constipation.
