small bowel follow through

Hi everybody,

Not posted in a while but just wanted some guidance -  I have been scheduled for a small bowel follow through where I will be drinking the barium.  I was just wondering how sensitive this test is in detecting crohn's in the small bowel?  Is there any chance that it could miss it?  I have had a colonoscopy and that was how I was diagnosed but the GI wants to check my small bowel to see if there is anything going on there.

I liked the barium.
It reminded me of berry flavored Pocky.
A bit fruity, a bit chocolatey.
I was so hungry that I chugged those bad boys.
They said the fastest they've ever seen barium go through a person was 32 minutes.
I wanted to beat that record.
But in my 2nd xray, they said they wanted to see it go through to the colon, so I came in at a time of 44 minutes.
They let me look at the pics. It was cool!
They could barely see the scarred part of my small bowel! That's how much my Crohn's in the intestines has healed.
Based on the SBFT and the colonoscopy, they said that my Crohn's has changed from the inflammation type to the fistulizing type.
Thank god I'm not the stricturing type!

This was actually how I was dx, but a pill camera actually shows pictures of your guts, and a long endoscopy (18 foot) reaches most of what the colonscopy cannot get to.
