thats the UK for you!! That was harsh, it shouldn't of been said, but looking at it the funny way, it's probably a good job to be in!! haha

I think a lot of people are on the fence about this, and that's why there is not many responses.  Is it ok for someone to suggest person with Crohns should take a job scrubbing toilets to "accommodate" their needs?  Me personally, I'd be offended...not because I'm above scrubbing a toilet but because someone thinks the only job I'm able to do is something like that.  Other people look at it as a job is a job.  Could she have been more tactful? Yes.  How about telling him what jobs are avalible and seeing if he was interested in any of them.

As a joke, I found it rather witty.

"asked to work in a place with good loo facilities" ... "offered a job as a toilet cleaner" ... Well, I found it amusing anyway. It's not what you'd normally expect when you request good loo facilities.

But it's hard to imagine anybody who works at a job centre coming out with a spontaneous joke, so it was probably a serious offer of a real job. The job centre isn't exactly renowned for offering professional white-collar jobs as it is, so that alone would have made me not feel offended at the offer of a "menial" job. On top of that, people who don't have Crohn's don't know anything about it. They think it's no worse than a mild tummy ache or whatever, or at least certain ones I've come across online do.

i'd rather be the toilet TESTER, but that is just me...
