Back pain

I have A S and bone spurs down my backbone. I am in the middle of several days of many bathroom visits and my back is killing me. I'm sorta bent over and cant straighten up. I have a theory that the excess gas is pushing my spine out of line from the inside causing more pain that usual . What do you guys think ? Is that possible ?

Sniper, I feel the same way i hate it. Im real thin so every little push or anything touching my spine hurts. I really need to gain weight. And trying.

repeated bathroom visits causes me to lean a bit forward to. I def. Think all my back issues are crohn's related. Especially when i hurt it lifting.

Horrible Amounts of gas as well.

My back has been in so much pain the past few months that I've been out of remission. I feel like an 80 year old woman sometimes hobbling around (And one of my many parttime jobs is retail where I constantly have to bend down and reach and it make it even worse)

Don't know about your theory but at least you're not alone with the crazy back pain! (Not that it helps your pain, but ya know, gotta stick together I suppose!)

Sniper...the pain you describe may also be inflammation pushing on a nerve. That was my problem with my severly protruding disc. The nerve pain was worse when anything nearby it inflammed including my guts.
Are you getting Physical Therapy? That was the only thing that provided relief for me other than my final result of surgery. i still get PT once in a while as the nerve was destroyed and I need to restore strength to the core muscles.

When you have back issues, you need to strengthen your core more...wondering if the gut issues are making you use the core muscles less and that is adding to the back pain too.

I don't know, in my case, Gas bubbles just find anything that HURTS if it is in my torso in general.

Yes, esp. in my back. I had that with my old slipped disc in 1989!

Yeah, along with my kness, the Osteo has got me in my Lumbar region. Wrestling alligators really isn't recommended, even if you are a crazy Cajun! ( Is there any other kind?)

I talked to my doc about it and he says gas can exert pressure on the bone spurs and muscle tissue in my back. Yep bone spurs. Doc says best way to describe my back is to take a candle and tilt it letting the wax run down the side, ta dahhhh, picture of my back. Zanne, I will try hanging around from a bar, but didn't you mean hang around a bar ? I've tried PT and things got worse .MMMNAVY, I havn't wrestled a gator in about 25 years . They are much easier to drag into a boat after there is a hole in their head about the size of a 22 Cal. Hard part is their brain is the size of a wallnut and the only spot that slows them down. Also remember they are reptiles so just because they are dead dosen't mean they cant still bite. Tsitodawg, down here is south louisiana we dont have basements, they tend to fill up with water . No fun going down in a flooded basement to exercise less one wants to play ,,swim for your life , thats a snake. My back has hurt ever since I was diagnosed with Crohns too (at 16).. I feel like an old lady.. I won't even carry my children around really, it always seems to be mid to lower back.. Heating pad helps me.. I did go to the Chiro but what he did only helped for 3 days.. and it gets pricey.

Spider, you have Crohn's, AS & bone spurs? You have a full plate. I know how much a bone spur hurts and it sounds like you have several going down your spine, OUCH!. All I can say is "pain killers" - better living through modern chemistry. Are you planning to have the spurs surgically removed? That's the only way I know of to end that pain and allow full motion again.

Nope Randy, I was all ready bent into the turn off the water position before the waterworks show, just could not find the turn off valve with old faithful blasting me in the face. I dont plan of surgery for now AzJohnny because they will come back. My artho says wear a brace but its such an aggravation that I dont . I usually dont hurt too bad less I bend to pick something up or worse, bump into something, but when I am gassed up there is no excape from the pain. I hate pain killers too so only when I can not stand it do I take them.

I'll do that Lyn, in fact today is our 39th wedding anniversary. Hard to believe such a sweet lady has stayed with me long enough to be stuck with the old geezer I am now.
