Well, I have an appointment with my GI today...and I have a nagging feeling that he's going to want to admit me.

I haven't been able to eat without throwing up or having horrible abdominal pain for the last 2 weeks...and since the last time I saw him (a month ago), I've lost over 20 pounds. I think I'm pretty malnourished at this point- my vision keeps getting really blurry, my chest hurts, my heartbeat is really fast (it's 120- at the lowest), I get light headed when I stand, my joints ache so badly that when I wake up in the morning and go to stand up, I fall to the floor because it hurts so much...my muscles ache...all of this on top of my abdominal pain. I've been drinking Ensure every day, but I throw up at least half of it...I'm so tired. Tired of this and being given the run around about my diagnosis.
He had me stop all of my medications so I'm on nothing right now.

Just wish me luck...any one else go through this?

Good Luck! It sounds like you need to be admitted, not that that make it easier, being in the hospital sucks, but they can get you on IV's and start getting you feeling better.

You sound so miserable, be assured we are all sympathising with you because most of us have been there at some time or other. If you get a chance to be admitted take that chance, they will be able to get your energy levels up and you will be able to rest. Also gives the docs an opportunity to see exactly how you are affected. Wishing you the best of luck and a quick recovery.

If they still haven't done the tests that were suggested to you in earlier threads, please suggest them. Good luck :)

I know being in the hospital is miserable, but remember that often being in the hospital gets you the tests you need a lot faster than being an outpatient so it is worth it in a case like yours when they have no idea what is going on. Plus you have the added bonus of people who can care for you when you are at your weakest. Let them. The nurses can be wonderful at taking care of you at just the right moment when you think you cant stand it anymore. They know just how to tuck a pillow in behind your back or under your knees. Don't hesitate to ask for what you need. If you want something to help with the nausea, ask, sleep, ask, anxiety, ask.....

I've been tested for Celiac's and everything else under the sun that they thought it might be. Finally though, I have a doctor who says "Just because we're not finding something doesn't mean there isn't anything there". At least I'm not being told that it's anxiety!
And yes, they have done a long endoscopy, but no pill cam in sight yet. I'm at the Cleveland Clinic, so they have some pretty cool technology...such as this MRI I'm getting tonight, which my GI said is better than a pill cam. My hospital at home was clueless as to how to do an abdominal MRI (ugh, typical).
I just want them to see SOMETHING on the MRI. I don't even care what it is. Just something that proves there is something wrong....or leads them in the right direction.

Grrrr...well, I just talked to a doctor (not the one who has been following my case closely)...and he said the biopsies came back from my EGD and there are inflamed parts.
His explanation for this was IBS. I'm about sick of hearing that I have IBS when I clearly have fevers, joint pain and blood in my stool. How can he even say it's IBS when there's inflammation present?
His other explaination was Celiac's. I've been on SCD for about 2 months, and it helped somewhat, but didn't clear up all of my symptoms. I went off of it because I knew they wanted to test for Celiac's. Well, the blood test came back negative. AHHHH! I'm still waiting for my MRI test results and I just hope so much that it shows something. Anything, actually.

I'll post what those are later, I'm just annoyed with the IBS thing.

Well, I just talked to the doctors who are more familiar with my case. They think I have Lymes Disease and are going to do a blood test for it now. I also have SEVERE milk allergies/lactose intolerance. Nice to know. Although I knew that about the milk before...and I was following the SCD. Ah well. I'm for sure going back on SCD when I get home.

Oh, and on top of all of this- I have a C. diff infection! They just came in to tell me this. I have to stay here for at least 3 more days...all quarantined off.

Wouldn't it be awesome if you felt better in a week??
