Pulsating pain...

I'm having pulsating pain in both kidney areas. It's getting extremely uncomfortable and worrying.
I've had this pain before but usually in the one area, and it usually indicates a kidney stone, but
never on both sides. Any ideas anyone??

The only time I've had pulsing pain in both kidneys was when I was having a bad reaction to my (last) remicade infusion.

If I were you, I'd make a trip to the ER or Urgent Care just to play it safe.

How long have you been having the pain? If it came on gradually, I'd think it was a kidney infection. If it came out of nowhere, I'd go with another stone. Either way, you know how much pain you can tolerate, and you probably know yourself well enough to know when it's time to go to the ER.

When you had kidney stones in the past, did you see a specialist, or just your PCP. Maybe you could give whoever you saw before for the stones a call and see if they can do tests (a CT) to check for stones, and avoid an ER visit...that is if you can make it until Monday so they can do all the preauthorization stuff for your insurance. Sometimes when I feel really bad, but it's something that's happened before, my dr will do tests first, then see me in the office if it's needed.

You know something, that's the one thing that's ticking me off. Both doc's are aware of my "kidney problem" but it
never seems to go any where. I saw a nephrologist one time while I was in hospital, and he was going to do a biopsy,
I never heard no more. I give up.

The pain has come on again out of nowhere, and it does hurt more when I'm sitting, however this not like the regular
renal colic I get. I usually get more in the front going around to the flank, and I also throw up. This is all back, and although
I feel nauseated and have a headache, no vomiting.

It seems to be worse this morning, so I may not be able to wait, but I'm gonna try...

go to the hodpital- they should at least do a CT scan to see if there are any stones. i've had about 8 of them now and the pain has at times radiated to both sides.

We can't make you do anything, we can only suggest strongly that you go.

Get a book, music, if your laptop has wireless, bring it too (hosps often have wireless for patients, you just have to ask).

ER visits suck, we all know this, but kidney damage sucks more.
