I didn't sleep more than 3 hours a day for months when I was on pred, it made me very jittery. I'm normally a good sleeper, so the insomnia was a new experience (joy) for me.
I did use Imovane (don't know if it's the same class of drugs your doc Rx'd), but this one allows you to dream. I found it did nothing for me when I was on the higher dose, but helped as I got below 20,mg...Still I went through another night of insomnia when I came off it which was a few days after coming off the pred.
Seems you might have to wait it out, but this doesn't mean you don't need to rest as best you can.
I found 2 things that kept my mind busy while my body rested,
1) Meditation, I did some of my best meditating on pred, go figga. If you can find a Mindfullness program in your area, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Whether you can get into one now or not, it helps you deal with the anxiety a life of CD can bring. It will give you tools to help you cope in so many positive ways.
2) Quiet music. I went to single instrument recordings, guitar, cello, etc. I let my mind wander with the music and in the mean time my body got rest.
This is my two points worth, hang in there, and reign that mind in when it wanders into worrisome territory, that will only make your anxiety worse...
Hang in there Tiger
