I cannot tolerate dairy at all - it's not just the lactose but the dairy protein that bothers me. So I can't eat yogurt. I have Soy milk with my breakfast most mornings with no problem. So when I found Soy yogurt (with live cultures) I figured this could be a good thing.
I had a small container of one brand on Saturday. Felt a little 'bubbly' if you know what I mean, and a little crampy - but that didn't necessarily have to be from the yogurt. On Monday afternoon, I had another small container of another brand and felt not too bad.
However, today I was miserable - some nausea, a lot of upper abdominal discomfort and distension - lots of gas too later in the day.
Is it possible the live cultures are doing this to me? Is this just another 'healthy' food item I am unable to tolerate? Or could it just be a coincidence?
I'll lay off the yogurt for a week at least and then maybe I'll try it again when I have a few days free to be sick if need be.
It's just that I have seen a lot of talk here about people who take probiotics and it helps them. Just looking for some confirmation here.
Thanks.
