Yep, it happened to me. To be fair, I had been having a flare for a couple of years but did not have health insurance so I just dealt with it. When I got the insurance, made an appt with the Dr who scheduled me for a colonoscopy before he would start treatment. After the procedure, he told me that I was extremely inflamed and he had to use a pediatric scope because of the narrowing. Went home in extreme pain, but he said it was the air from the procedure and it would work itself out. Next day the pain was worse, called him and he said that I must have a virus. That it didn't sound serious and there was no need to go to the ER. By that evening, I had the hubby and kids scared to death so they called 911. They did a CAT scan, discovered the perforation and I had an emergency resection. Surgeon told hubby that if I had not come in that I might not have lasted the night. I now take my crohn's very seriously.
