starting to have some pain 4 mths after surgery

hey guys i have been quiet for a while.  trying to get caught up at work since my resection surgery in Jan.  Right now I am taking 75mg of 6mp plus other meds for high blood preasure.  i have had issues with kidney fundtions being slightly off which has casued lots of adjustment to the blood preasure meds.  My dr says this is very common when having surgery with all the fluids.

but i am getting  a little worried.  over the past 2 weeks, i have been getting intermentant sharp pains in the lower abdomin.  most of the time they occur several hours after eating but then they stay for a while.  nothing that stops me from what i am doing.  however, i have also started getting a little nausa feeling as well.  these are both picking up. 

question?  is this related to 6mp? dosage was increased from 50 to 75 2 weeks ago.  or is the disease at work again?  i am not have any "D" but when i do go i go several times  4 or 5 times in a few hours time.  the GI says for my weight and such i ahould be taking at least 100 mg of 6mp.  that is what he trying to do.  howeer, when he first put me on it after surgery, he had to stop due to it making me so tired.  he waited a few weeks until i got full strenght back from surgery.  now i am wondering if i can take 6mp at all.  or if i am having issues from the crohn;s. 

I had 6 -7inches of small and 4 of large removed.  I.E. terminal illium.   Or, am i having issues from the surgery like scare tissue causiing a narrowing- i did have two large bleed outs from he surgery-one on day 3 and another on day 14 which put me back in the hospital.  would the bleed outs cause heavy scare tissue which would cause some of my issues?

i am confused and looking for some guidance from you guys on what yu have experienced.  I am seeing the GI late next week.

I think you should ask your GI and Surgeon. Your past history is pretty complicated. I never had blood pressure issues with my resections, but after having 3, I have extensive adhesions which cause pain as food moves thru each area that is stuck together or attached to my sides and back. But since you didn't have this kind of pain before, running it by your docs is imperative. They will ask what you have been eating, do you have a temp, any blood in the stool? Do you feel dehydrated?

In any event, I wouldn't wait if I were you. It's better to get reassurance from the doc than worry and make yourself weaker. I've been there many times in 37 years. Good luck.

update:

Finally got to see my GI today.  I was pretty miserable last week with nasua and pain.  I have lost 11 lbs since I saw him 3 weeks ago. he stopped the 6mp while we find out what is going on.  I am scheduled for a colonoscopy on wednesday.  this will be my first one since rescetion surgery on Jan 19th.  he was a little concerned doing one so soon after surgery but he really wants to find out if the crohn's is active.  If it is, he will start me back on remicade or try humera.  if not activity, then he will wait a while before trying 6mp as he wants my body to recover more from surgery and all the weight i lost.  I had lap work done last week so he would have them for our meeting today.  He said the labs were perfect-no bleeding and no 6mp issues.  but as he said, you can still not toreate 6mp. 

i will let you guys know what we find out.  I am alittle worried, that my surgery has left me with scar tissue that is causing the pain.  I had 2 major bleed outs after the surgery: one on day 3 of the surgery and one on day 14 which require re hospitalization.  i hear that these can cause pain.

It kinda makes me think its the 6mp because you just increased the dosage. I know when I was on it and went up on it, it made me pretty sick too, so much so that I went back down. Just a thought!

yeah, i am begining to think 6mp as well.  dr called and said stop it for now. this am no nausa although have had a few pains/crampiness.  the 6mp was 50mg and he increased to 75. then backed down to 50 but still nausa.  neither of these are high enough to be effective on me dur ot my size.  6'7" and wiegh 225lbs.  i need something like 125mg or 150 he said as my wieght before all my problems was about 255. 

thanks  will let everyone know what the outcome is.  I have heard about pain at the recetion site being caused by scar tissue that becomes adhesive.  i hope that is not my case.

I was on 100 mg of 6mp pre surgery. Been off of it for six wks. I think it was making me dead tired all the time. Best of luck!

updatee: had colonoscopy this am

Dr found one new ulcer just above where i had my rescetion surgey. he took a sample for a biopsy but feels it is crohn's coming back.It was not very deep. He also saw some redness around the site where they did the rescetion.  He feels the 6mp was what caused my problems so he stopped the med.  Now, we will meet in a few weeks and decide on what to try next-might be remicade again given that the disease is continuing to march on.
