Pre-Employment Drug Screen............ Should everything be OK if I have a legitimate prescription?

So, I have decided to change jobs and go back to my last Company.  I have accepted the position and am ready to start in the next couple of weeks, they are just waiting on the results of my pre-employment drug test.  I am under the care of a pain management doctor and have been for the past couple of years.  I always get my prescriptions filled at the same pharmacy, have had the same Doctor for the entire time and take my medication exactly as prescribed.  Due to HIPAA regulations, they would not let me provide any information on medical conditions or current medications prior to the test.  I was told that if I come up positive, someone will call and talk with me about it to see if there is a viable medical explanation for the presence of Opiates.  Has anyone else had this experience and is there anything I need to know or do up front?  I have typed up a list of all of my medications, the RX number, instructions and information for the Doctors that prescribed them.  I have also made copies of 2 months worth of actual Percocet prescriptions and I have the label and leaflet info that CVS re-printed for me..................I have never had to think about this before and I want to make sure that this will not impact my job.

Any thoughts?

I'd have to think that would suffice. Might not be a bad idea to bring an empty pill bottle just in case, though.

Usually you just have to let them know ahead of time what meds you're on that might show up on a drug screen. I'm on clonazepam for anxiety, and it shows up. I had to give the pharmacy number and prescription number to the school (when I had a drug screen for school) and they just called and confirmed that the prescription was legitimate and was actually mine.

I don't think drug screens usually even come up positive for pain meds, but if they do, the paperwork you have will be enough for what the employer would need from you!

Thanks for all of your help and comments, I appreciate them! I was not able to tell them anything up front. I did call the contact within the Company that I am going back to who was listed as a resource for the Drug Testing but she said that due to HIPAA regulations and privacy concerns, she is not involved at all in this part of the process. She said that if I take the test and come up positive, they will have a Medical Review Officer call me and talk with me about the circumstances and any type of medical explanation I might have to explain the positive. When I actually went to the lab to take the test, I talked with the LabCorp person who actually administered the test and asked her if I needed to declare the medications I am taking up front - she said no, that they can no longer make a note of that or accept the information - again, due to HIPAA and privacy concerns. She also verified that they would have a Medical Review Officer call me when the test comes back positive. She said that the pain meds I take will show up, however, they are really looking for illegal drugs. She said that as long as I have the RX that is made out to me, I should be fine. I did go and get all of my meds re-filled the other night before I change insurances and I was actually reading the insert for my Protonix - apparently it too can cause a false positive for THC! So, I am still waiting now for the call from the MRO to go over my results and to have the conversation on what meds I am taking, etc.......I will let you guys know how it goes. Just wanted you to all know that Protonix can also register as THC in case any of you have to test and are on it.
